Website Design / Website Development

Fashion Toolbox

Laura had spent years limping along on a Wix site that could never do what she needed — and made a genuine expert look like a hobbyist. We designed and built her a completely custom website that finally looks and sounds like her, and convinces fashion brands she's the right person for the job.

What we achieved

100s → 1,000s site visitors a year — old Wix site vs new

Overview

Fashion Toolbox is Laura’s business — 20-plus years in the fashion industry, now spent helping brands, designers and students master 3D digital design. She does the hands-on training and the done-for-you product development: 3D garments from concept to production, digital pattern making, photo-real product imagery. Her client list includes Nottingham Trent University, the University of Winchester, Smiffys and Silverback Gymwear.

Her work was serious. Her website wasn’t. For years she’d limped along on a Wix site that couldn’t do what she needed — so she finally did the thing every one-person business should do, and took her website seriously. We designed and built her a completely custom one.

The challenge

Laura is a genuine expert. Her old website made her look like a hobbyist.

It was a Wix site, and it had all the tells: a generic template that could have belonged to any business, a homepage headline that said precisely nothing (“Your key to digital fashion mastery…”), and waffly copy that talked around what she did instead of saying it. When you’re asking a fashion brand to trust you with their product development, a site like that quietly works against you — it undersells the person behind it before they’ve even said hello.

And the platform itself was a ceiling. Wix wouldn’t let her build the pages, the structure or the functionality she actually wanted, so she was stuck shaping her business around what the template would allow — never the other way round. She’d outgrown it years ago and was limping on regardless.

What we did

We designed and built a completely custom website from scratch — one that finally looks and sounds like Laura and the standard of work she delivers.

A site that matches the quality of her work

Custom design, not a template — built around her services so a visitor immediately gets what she does and why it matters: 3D product development, digital fashion training, product photography and mockups, pattern making. We put her credibility front and centre, with a “Trusted by” line-up — Nottingham Trent, Winchester, Smiffys — doing the heavy lifting of proof in the first few seconds.

Words that sound like her — and speak to her customers

We binned the vague “digital fashion mastery” language and replaced it with something clear and confident: 3D design & training for fashion innovators — improve your workflow, reduce costs, and speed up your lead times. Every section answers the only question a potential customer is really asking: what’s in this for me?

Built on something that won’t hold her back

Off Wix and onto a custom build she actually controls — proper pages, a sensible structure, a resource library, room to grow. When Laura wants to do something new now, the website is a tool that helps her, not a wall she has to argue with.

Results

The old Wix site barely registered — a few hundred visitors a year, and not much happening when they arrived. The new site pulls in thousands, with far more people actually digging into her services and resources rather than bouncing off a vague homepage.

But the real result is harder to put a number on and matters more: Laura finally has a website that looks and sounds like the expert she is. It earns trust in the first few seconds instead of leaking it — and it backs her up when she’s trying to convince a fashion brand she’s the right person for the job. She did what every one-person company should do. She took her website seriously.

The team completely got my vision from day one. They listened, asked the right questions, and turned ideas into a site that reflects everything Fashion Toolbox stands for. They went above and beyond at every stage, nothing was too much trouble, and the end result is absolutely spot on.
